# Chat

> Ask Revont about your meetings, records, pipeline, emails, and workspace.

Chat is Revont's conversational workspace. Ask a question in everyday language and Revont can find information, explain what it found, prepare work for you, or carry out an action when you approve it.

Chat works with the information your account can access. It does not expose records or actions that your role, workspace, or enabled features do not allow.

## What Chat Can Help You Do

You can ask Chat to find information, explain what it found, prepare work, or suggest a change for you to review.

## Where Chat appears

Chat is available in several places so you can ask questions without losing the context you are working in:

* **Global Chat**: Open the global Search bar. With no search text, choose **Ask Revont AI**. If you have entered a query or already have an open conversation, the action may appear as **Ask Revont about ...** or **Continue Chat**. This is the best place for workspace-wide questions.
* **Meeting Chat**: Open Chat from a meeting to ask about that meeting, its transcript, its notes, its participants, and related follow-up.
* **Client, Deal, And Contact Chat**: Open Chat from a record page to ask about the record in front of you. Revont carries that record as context while answering.
* **Floating Chat**: When the floating meeting widget is available, it can keep Chat close while you work in a live meeting.

On a meeting page, Chat can sit beside the transcript. On record pages, it can use the current client, deal, or contact as a starting point. You can still name a different record in your question when that is what you need.

## Start A Conversation

1. Open Chat from the location that matches the work you are doing.
2. Type a question or request in the message box.
3. Press **Enter** to send it. Use **Shift + Enter** when you want a new line.
4. Read the answer and any record links, sources, charts, or action cards that appear with it.
5. Continue with a follow-up question when you want to narrow the answer or take the next step.

Chat answers as it works. You may see a short progress view while Revont searches your workspace or prepares an action. You can stop a response while it is being generated.

<Note>
  Chat uses your current page as helpful context, but the record or person you name in your question takes priority.
</Note>

## What Chat Can Find And Explain

### Meetings And Calendar

Chat can help you understand meeting activity without making you search page by page.

* Count meetings and filter them by date, status, outcome, client, or deal.
* Find upcoming meetings and prepare a daily briefing.
* Open meeting details, notes, and transcripts.
* Search across meeting transcripts.
* Find attendee research when it is available.
* Explain which meetings were positive, negative, neutral, or ended without a decision.
* Find the meetings connected to a client or deal.

### Clients, Deals, Contacts, And Follow-Up

Chat can answer questions about the customer records and the work connected to them.

* Find clients by useful filters such as industry or priority.
* Open client, deal, contact, email, meeting, and action item details.
* List and search deals, including semantic searches that look for meaning rather than only exact words.
* Explain deal statistics, projected revenue, active pipeline, and stale deals.
* Find contacts for a client and search the contact directory.
* Find action items, including pending, completed, overdue, and record-specific work.
* Read the memory Revont has saved about a client, deal, or sales representative.
* Search saved memory when you are trying to recover a past detail.

### Emails And Conversations

Chat can help you understand email activity and prepare the next message.

* Search emails by exact words or by meaning.
* Find emails connected to a client or deal.
* Search across conversations.
* Open an email or email thread.
* Draft a new email, a reply, or a follow-up.
* Prepare more than one draft in one request.
* Send an email now or prepare it to send later through the email composer.
* Create durable client or deal memory from a selected email thread when you explicitly ask.

Revont uses the recipients and context it finds in your workspace. It does not invent an email address for a follow-up.

### Action Items

Chat can manage follow-up work when your account has Action Items access.

* Show your action items or the action items connected to a client or deal.
* Filter by completion, priority, category, and due date.
* Create a task or reminder.
* Change the task text, priority, due date, category, or completion status.
* Remove an action item.
* Turn a follow-up into a **Write Email** or **Schedule Meeting** action when the request calls for it.

### Reports And Dashboards

Chat can answer common sales and performance questions using the reporting data available to you.

* Explain pipeline by stage.
* Prepare a forecast.
* Summarize win and loss results.
* Show quota attainment.
* Run an available report.
* List saved reports and dashboards.
* Open a report or dashboard and return report details.
* Build a chart when a visual answer is the clearest way to show the result.

The report or chart is based on the data Chat can access. It does not replace the Reports page for editing a dashboard.

### Knowledge Base, Products, And Competitors

Chat can use your internal knowledge and catalog records.

* Search the Knowledge Base.
* List articles and open an article preview.
* Create, edit, delete, or publish an article when your role allows it.
* Find product, product suite, and competitor records.
* Add, update, or delete product and competitor records when your role allows it.
* Generate a Knowledge Base article about a competitor when you explicitly ask for an article, brief, guide, battlecard, or analysis.
* Use Knowledge Base content to answer questions about your sales process, product, competitors, coaching, or strategy.

For internal sales guidance, Chat looks in the Knowledge Base first. It can use current public web information when internal information cannot answer a current public-fact question.

### Data Model And Records

Chat can work with the workspace Data Model and the records built from it.

* Discover the data models available in your workspace.
* List or search records in a model.
* Open one record.
* Create, update, or archive a custom record when you have write access.
* Inspect objects, fields, relationships, and Quick Commands.
* Create, update, archive, restore, or delete Data Model objects, fields, relationships, and Quick Commands when you are an administrator.
* Propose a complete Data Model from a plain-language request when you are an administrator.

Data Model changes are separate from ordinary record changes. Revont shows a reviewable proposal and asks for confirmation before a definition is changed.

### Import And Export

When you ask Chat to import or export data, it can open **Data Transfer** for you.

The Data Transfer dialog handles the selected object, columns, filters, file mapping, duplicate decisions, relationship matching, record confirmation, and the final export or import. Chat opens the workflow; it does not silently change records just because you asked it to open.

### Your Own Profile

Chat can answer basic questions about your own Revont profile when that information is available to your account.

## Actions That Change Data

Chat separates looking something up from changing something.

For changes such as creating a task, changing a record, saving memory, writing an email, scheduling a meeting, changing a Knowledge Base article, or editing the Data Model, Revont shows a review or confirmation step when required. Review the details before you approve it.

* **Email drafts** open in an editable composer. You can edit the recipient, subject, message, attachments, and timing before you send or schedule it.
* **Meetings** require confirmation when Chat schedules or reschedules them.
* **Records and tasks** require confirmation for supported create, update, archive, and delete actions.
* **Memory** can be saved, updated, dismissed, or deleted when you explicitly request it.
* **Knowledge Base and catalog changes** are limited by your access and may require administrator permissions.
* **Data Model changes** are administrator-only and use a reviewable proposal. Permanent definition deletion includes an impact review when applicable.

Nothing is treated as completed until the relevant review or confirmation step succeeds.

## Use Files As Context

Use the paperclip button to attach a file to a Chat message. You can also drag a file into the message area or paste an image when the Chat input supports it.

Chat currently accepts common business files and images, including:

* PDF, Word, RTF, OpenDocument Text, Excel, and PowerPoint files.
* CSV, TSV, plain text, Markdown, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, and JSON files.
* GIF, JPEG, PNG, and WebP images.

You can attach up to three files to one message. The direct analysis limit is 50 MB across non-image files in one Chat request, and individual file limits vary by file type. Chat tells you when a file is unsupported or too large for direct analysis.

Attachments are available as context for the current Chat request. Revont may also show the file with the conversation so you can see what was included.

## Meeting And Transcript Controls

When Chat is attached to a meeting, you can use the meeting-specific controls around the message box:

* Open the meeting transcript.
* Jump between Chat and the transcript.
* Ask questions about the live or completed meeting.
* Use live meeting context and coaching suggestions when they are available.
* Open the email view for the meeting and continue into a follow-up draft.
* Open the Actions menu to write a follow-up email or schedule a follow-up meeting.

The floating meeting widget also provides a transcript view, an auto-scroll setting, and a **New Chat** action.

## Chat Results

Chat may present more than plain text:

* **Record links** open the relevant client, deal, contact, meeting, email, action item, or Knowledge Base article.
* **Sources and citations** show where an answer came from when source information is available.
* **Progress updates** explain what Chat is doing while it searches or prepares a result.
* **Email drafts** appear in an editable email composer.
* **Daily briefings** group meeting, action item, and email information into a readable summary.
* **Reports and charts** present supported sales and performance results visually.
* **Knowledge Base previews** open the article without requiring Chat to repeat the full article.
* **Confirmation cards** let you review and approve an action before it changes data.

## Useful Prompts

Use normal language. These examples are starting points; replace the names and dates with records from your workspace.

* "What meetings do I have with this client this week?"
* "Summarize the latest meeting and show the open follow-up."
* "Find overdue action items for this deal."
* "What is the latest email thread with this contact?"
* "Draft a friendly follow-up based on our last meeting."
* "What does the current pipeline look like?"
* "Search the Knowledge Base for our objection-handling guidance."
* "Show me what Revont remembers about this client."
* "Create an action item to send the proposal next Friday."
* "Open Data Transfer for deals."

<Info>
  Chat is designed for sales work in Revont. For the best answer, name the client, deal, contact, meeting, or time period you mean and say whether you want information, a draft, or a change.
</Info>

## Access And Availability

The exact Chat capabilities depend on your role, record access, and workspace features.

* Read results are limited to information you are allowed to see.
* Write actions appear only when your account has the matching access.
* Administration, Knowledge Base changes, Data Model changes, and some catalog actions may be limited to administrators.
* A read-only record view can still show Chat context, but it may hide actions that would change data.
* If Chat says something is not accessible, ask your workspace administrator to check your role or feature access.

## Start A New Chat

Use the **New Chat** or clear button in the Chat header to remove the current conversation and begin again. Starting a new Chat does not delete your Revont records.
